Following the APPG's Officers raising the issue of the Tanzania arrests with Ministers both in the 25 October Commons Debate and in follow-up correspondence, the Government confirmed that it had raised Britain's strong concerns about the situation.
In a letter which can be read below, the Foreign Office's Africa minister, Rory Stewart wrote to confirm that the British High Commissioner made the UK's position clear to the Tanzanian authorities, and that the international community's coordinated action had managed to secure the detainees successful release.
